Default weekend car

right my new place has a garage, currently residing in it is a tidy series 2, after owning a focus RS its a bit of dinosaur and doesnt do much for me anymore....i will probably sell it in the new year....now if i get a mk2 RS i wont need one, but i might keep my mk1 in daily service and get a new weekend car

my friend has a lotus elise, i love the way it looks, it drives like its on rails but i think its too small and cramped for me....im 6 foot, around 16 stone

can anyone suggest a similar car, i cant think of much, not a porsche (maybe in a few years), honda S2000 doesnt do much for me.

would like it as maybe a track car, convertible for when the suns out, turbo might be fun

suggestions?

M3 convertible? You say not a Porsche but the Boxster can be had for a song and drive superbly. Although you will get the usual "only got a Boxster as couldn't afford a 911", these people have usually driven neither and probably never will.

yeah i have driven both and loved them both, both 2005, a boxster sport and 996 carrera

i loved the urgency of the flat six engine and its willing to rev.

the thing that puts me off is finding a good one, there are so many for sale. alot with 100k plus and (as usual if you use the internet) a million horror storys about engine failures and the like.....also with the 996 there are so many variants, i dont know which one to go for.
