Default Puma Track Car

Hi

I need some advice please! me and some lads from work have bought a track day puma but there is no real bite from the brakes? we have stripped the fronts all seem ok no leaks etc and same with rear.

we tried bleeding the front brakes and it feels slightly better but after bleeding the rears too we are out of ideas can anyone suggest whats wrong?

its a standard 99 plate 1.7 with ABS.

the ABS light does come on sometimes but then goes back out but we thinking it just a dodgy wheel sensor.

The abs wouldnt cause the brake pedal to be poo. Is there plenty of fluid coming out when your bleeding the brakes. Does it come out with a bit of pressure too.

i bought a 2002 puma last year and the brakes were utter shit!!#

binned them for mk3 mondeo callipers and focus st170 front discs. instant 300mm brake upgrade and they are pretty good!

paid £30 for the callipers and £70 for the discs iirc, so a cheap one too

As Fudgey says, brakes are useless as standard. In my wife's 1.7, the brakes give up after 4 or 5 enthusiastic bends. Great handling though!
