I'm pretty sure the Blue has been up for sale for ages...almost sure I remember it from last year even and it was cheaper.

Maybe the new owner has found out something and selling it on.

If it was a good deal, surley it would have sold by now?

I've decided to get a focus rs instead. I pick it up Saturday. There's just too many question marks against the car. I ran a check on the DVLA mot section and it comes back unrecognised despite seeing a pic of the log book.

It's registered in Ireland, the shells legit but the numbers arn't, the engine doesn't have any numbers, no Ford receipt for new block, only a receipt for the engine rebuild.

The DVLA, police and Vosa are just not interested in the car despite all this. Vosa told me to contact the police, the police told me to contact the DVLA, the DVLA are as helpful as ever as you can imagine.

Very frustrating to be honest as the car could be legit in the eyes of the law and someone could get a very good buy but despite spending an awful long time looking into it all I'm still no further.

Cheers
Dave

It amazed me you spent so much time on it, if it could be done, it would of been done. For not a massive amount more you could of had mine which is a gen no questions asked cosworth. The blue one has been up for sale for a very long time through lots of different garages, it has a shadey history so will never demand top money and also have question marks against it. If I bought that car, I would always have the thought that if I get pulled and a no it all copper checked it over it could be going back to the insurance company.

Buy genuine, £8500 on a dodgy history car is well OTT in my eyes.

You will have to scratch that Escort Cosworth itch one day, trust me. It will come backj Enjoy the Focus, great car

Just goes to show, there is no such thing as a free lunch, it's cheap(ish) for a very good reason, dodgier than dodgy...
