Coil failures - focus
I have just replaced my coil with a Bosch one which is the right model for my car from a reputable company. Now this is the secong coil I have had to replace within the last 3 months and now even the new one looks like it is going to fail as some symptoms are returning. Is it possible for a bad HT lead to ruin a coil? i have just fitted 4 brand new spark plugs and it seemed ok for about 20 miles and now the EMS light has come back on and i bet you anything it is registering a coil failure. Any one got ideas at what i can look at next? Its a focus mk2 2005 1.6 with 48000 miles on clock. thanks people.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Just had same thing on a mares,Fault they leak water into the engine under the washer jets. Filled top of engine with water and fucked the leads

And to fix it we did;
Plugs
Leads
Oil filter
Oil
No risk of water contamination
We also did the other service accessorys while we fixed it also

Having previously worked at Ford for a number of years this was quite common on anything other than the Genuine Ford coils from Ford themselves, we on occasion would offer the customer non-genuine Parts (including Bosch branded ones) and they always came back within either weeks or months to be replaced, in the end we stopped using anything other than the Genuine Ford coils.
No idea what the difference is as you would expect the Bosch ones to be the same, but if you fit a genuine one I doubt you'll have another issue.

Anywho its not to say its gospel, im sure there must be some cases either way. But it certainly seemed a more common pattern in my experience.
