just been in my mates 52000 mile FRP mines done 89K and it just has this wicked lift off crackle/popping sound. At any rpm ya just lift off and it almost sounds like turbo lag crackle, but my FRP doesn't do it? should it?

I thought it maybe had an engine problem at first but it runs and pulls perfect.

We thinking it must be the exhaust system but its not a fancy magnex or Scorpion or original but a stainless system from the cat back, and another thing on bumpy roads when mine is fighting me his just stays true and straight mine is diving all over on the bumpy stuff is it the top mounts?

Can anyone shed any light

My bro has a frp and his does that too, not all the time but just as its coming down the revs, his is on a full system. Can't remember the make but it's a good one.

His seems to drive pretty sweet, does yours have different wheels, or diff offset wheels to std?

Could be worn bushes/tracking out/tyres worn/shite tyres causing the unstable ride

 

I thought the pops on over run was something Ford mapped in for the FRP? Same with the Focus RS Mk2.

 

Puma's, FRP or standard have a poor setup on the front really. They handle so well, but they come at a price with frequent drop links wearing out, top mounts and lower arms. But I say at a price, those parts aren't exactly dear You'll know if it's the top mounts when you rotate from left to right on very, very slow speeds and if it's the drop links when you hear it squeeking when driving or just pushing the wing up and down. Easy enough jobs As for the pop and splutter, that's a common thing even on a standard one with a standard exhaust.....it puuuuurrrrss hence the name "Puma"

My puma engines fiesta pops and bangs a treat.

However. When the lamba and maf failed it stopped. So look at them.

Also sounds like your rear wishbone bush is worn. There unique to the frp so make sure you get the right one.
