I'm going to look at a 2nd hand Bilstein B12 kit for my ST at a car breakers tomorrow, and was hoping some of you kind souls can give me some tips on what to look for to make sure that I'm not ripped off.

Obviously, I know to check if the dampers are leaking in any way, and that there's no cracks or breaks in the springs, but that's as far as my knowledge goes at the moment.

Id just check if theres resistance both ways, pulling and pushing them infor and out.
also check if they both feel the same

 

As above. There should be resistance when you push down or pull on them. If the push in cery easily then there fucked.

Check for leaks and scrapes on the shock rod, also check the thread on the top is in good condition.

 

Is that the 32G Puppies you are on a out or the Dampers he is going to look at.
