Default My car keeps losing power.....HELP Please!!

Just got my rebuild going today and everytime i drive it it just loses power now and again?? when it gets to 2000rpm or cruising around that area. Then when i press the clutch it comes back to life??? seems like an electrical problem??? very strange, has anyone had this before?? it's something very stupid but i'm lost and don't know where to look first!

Thanks in advance

when you say loses power do you mean stalls?

If its stalling could be the ISCV

or the base idle screw

It doesn't cut out completely, when in gear and building up speed the rev counter will just die and the car dies like you have switched the ignition off??? plus no lights come on the dash either?? After i have pressed the clutch in when it dies the revs start hunting badly for a couple of seconds and then settles???but it doesn't do it all the time

Well i've spent today trying to find my problem and none the wiser I have tried new leads cause it was also missfireing while coming on boost and that sorted that problem but this cutting out is really weird. If i sit stationary and just hold the revs at 2k it does it,the needle drops to nothing and then comes back to life???? what could cause this??

Well i've tried another sensor and i still have the problem i've checked the gap like Gus said and that didn't work I've rang Karl up to see what he thinks and he said to try the phase sensor connections to see if they are corroded with being sat in the garage over winter. Its really fookin winding me up

I have put a timing gun on it and its at 10 degrees at idle which is well out, should be 20 according to Karl i wish he was just down the road I'm going to adjust the timing and gap the sensor to 10 thou tomorrow and see what that does what else could it be??? could a dodgy coil do it or ignition amp???

Apart from this power cut problem Matt the engine is sweet mate thanks

No mate it looks fine,i did think about that one buddy but all seems ok. Would the timing being out cause it?? Karl said the phase sensor could be the problem so i think i'll try that aswell.
