Default Daf mechanics - radio help please

Any truck mechanics about that can help me please?

The radio in my 06 Daf 85 cf has stopped working, literally just wouldn't turn on one morning. I swapped the whole headunit out and still nothing so I got the multimeter out and had no power at the stereo, removed all my parrot kit too, still nothing. Got power at the relay in the fusebox but nothing at the headunit end. Is there a power inverter on these? I've taken the dash panel off and traced the wires ( I think ) to infront of the heater box and I didn't go any further. It's been broken for about 3 weeks now and im more than a bit bored of it tbh :-/ it's up for MOT next month anyhow but would like a bit of background noise before then I'm going slightly mad

Cheers. Joe

Check all the fuses, I had one go once and just went through the lot, found a blown fuse and it worked again, wasn't even labeled as radio, was a few years ago so can't remember exactly what, but have a look, might work

Yeah sorry forgot to mention that, checked for fuses but couldn't find a dedicated fuse, only a relay. Everything else is working though to my knowledge, cig lighter, beacons, work lights etc are all still fine.

sure it's 12v, google Gave me that answer though and apparently in 08/09 They switched back to using 24v using blaupunkt units. Mine was a VDO until I switched it for a Sony cd player. Don't have a handbook and what's a protected circuit and what's a dropper? Is that the 24v- 12v inverter thingy?

Volt dropper, turns 24 to 12 mate. Be about the size of a packet of fags with heat sinks in it.

Knowing daf I'd check lol plus if you have fitted a Sony that's more than likely a 12v! Id pull the radio and see if it is 12v if it is and you have seen it working the 24v singnal from the fuse bored will go to a voltage dropper so you can use a 12v radio. And from the top of my head it shares the same fuse as the cigar lighter

Cheers lads I had a quick look on my break, think I've found the voltage dropper behind the fuse board but I can't get to it lol. It's well hidden away. But it's something to check properly later when I park up for the day cheers

I'm not too sure what you trying to say mate? Are you saying it turns over but don't fire up or are you saying it's totally dead?
