should i pay a Birmingham car insurance premium when 99% of the time the car is kept in Kent??? they guy on teh fone was really rude and basically said that i had to pay £150 more as i would occasionally be taking it to birmingham cos im at uni there... but most of the time its kept at home.. and when its in birmingham its kept in a secure car park with cctv on uni campus?? its mad.... id understand if it was a percentage more but not a full birmingham premium!! thats stupid!!!

Im a student at uni in cardiff.......and thats got a wank postcode compared to home (gloucester).

I have my insurance at home (Glos), which is cheaper......and I live most of the time at uni (cardiff)......in the event of a claim, it'd just be "i was in cardiff and.......", as my car is registered at home, and thats my perminant address......fook um

 

can i do that?? but now they know im in birmingham.. i know they have no reason to know i have it at uni usually.... but now they know that im at uni there then maybe they will void my claim.....

is it worth the risk???

Not sure if they know you are at uni.

My insurance company wouldent give me Drive Other Cars if i was a student, so i just said I am unemployed, and i can drive other cars now .

If youve told them, then stick with it, if you havent taken out the policy yet, maybe ring another company and do it that way?

 

my suggestion would be leave your current company as that is shit customer service ,they should charge you for where the car is kept 99% of the time not for where it may be kept for 1%,I work in insurance and thats the way we would underwrite it!-by the way if its any sort of vaguely sporting car dont ask who I work for cos we wont cover ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep same as phil for me. car is registered to my home address in lincoln where its always stored in a locked garage!

 

I used to do that for uni in Bournemouth. It lived on the street in Bournemouth but was insured under dads name back home. Also used it to commute 4 days a week to Bournemouth in the final year, clocked up 20,000miles! That was me as a named driver and the car to do a total of 3000! If you take the chance, just take the consequences IF it comes unstuck.

I always had the line, I was visiting someone down that way or I normally take the train but took the car today for "X" reason.

 

i chickened out and paid the birmingham premium.. knowing my luck the car will get broken into so better safe and sorry...

actually... my dad said hed pay hehe... but still....

still very excited.. now i have insurance and breakdown cover... just need to go and collect teh car in teh morning now!!!!!
