Default engine conversion options. Advice please!

Hi guys,

I sold my cossie, as times are hard! I bought myself a little mk5 fiesta zetec s for a bargain for a little track car.

I'm not going to do huge amounts to it at the moment as we're moving house.

I'm not sure what to do RE engine!

Either a puma engine, st170, or do a blacktop zetec turbo.

Not sure which way to go. Puma engine is cheap conversion but i'm after more power! Around the 170-200bhp mark would be ideal! As it won't weight much once I strip it!

What do you think?

Cheers Mikey

Another vote for duratec. Great potential in that engine.

to be fair mate it totally down to how much you wanna spend and if your goin to do the work yourself

pumaspeed would charge around 3-4 grand to install a puma lump in a zetec s yet my mate bought an insurance write off puma for 150 quid took the lump gearbox wiring and mount , plus the alloys ,brakes and other silly little bits and scraped the shell for 80 quid , then sold his zetec s engine off for 150 quid ,so he ended up making money .

if money is no object stick a mark 1 focus rs lump in there then it would be a flyer!!

To get that out of an NA engine you will be talking shed loads of cash!

Pumaspeed are a Rip off!!!! I've seen a few cheap engines on ebay. And would probably do it myself, if not I'm only round the corner from Harbey Gibbs, so guess i could book it in!

I need more of these! I've bought a 2.0 blacktop from a mondeo, cheap! I just haven't picked it up yet. But was hesitating on what to do!! I think I could do a cheap Zetec turbo, only expensive things would be rods and pistons, and ecu and loom. But If i could pick a set of calibra turbo pistons that'd be cheaper!

I agree. But my cossie took so long, I just want to drive something whilst i'm building an engine!! My diesel isn't fun haha

I did look at yours, but it's not in my budget. However, I would like some of the parts if you are breaking!!

I think it's gonna be a 2.0 blacktop zetec turbo! I've bought one, just not picked it up. I think it will be fairly cheap.. RS turbo manifold with t3, EFI inlet etc. Only expensive things would be the rods, pistons, ecu and loom.

I'm just a bit stuck on what gearbox + Limited slip diff would fit!

What do you guys think?
