Who on here has built a cossie estate?

Testing the future
didn't see this before, but yes, i had one that i built after my mate stacked my sapph at the 'ring (not me that time ). few pics in sig.
i seem to remember i used the cossie rear beam with 7.5" diff, but fitted the arms from the estate (to use the concentric shocks), but the hubs from the 2wd cossie. the angles on the rear were fucked up though, used to chew the insides of the tyres something chronic.
my shell was a 4x4 which complicated it slightly as i had to fit the t5 crossmember to the larger tunnel somehow, and fitted the whole 2wd front end.

I ended up buying an E36 convertible as another toy, plan is to keep that until spring and move on to another project, but lately I've been looking at E30 325's. It's difficult to get an estate in reasonable condition and a saph thats not totally buggered mechanically for reasonable money when I want to do it on a budget, after it's built thar car won't be worth a whole lot so i'm not going to go mad financing it.
Yeah I was familiar with that silver one, it was owned by a guy called Sean, then he sold it to Ben. As far as i was aware it got in a really rough state and had a minor prang, then it was broken and scrapped many moons ago.

If you wanna go the E30 route then there was also a 316 estate with an m50 (e36 325i 24v) lump on there for round a grand again a few months back,200bhp near enough in a light motor would be great fun.

Finally getting around to doing this! This is the donor car that I was going to restore but now it makes more sense to buy a nice estate and rob the mechanicals off of this. Now I just need to find a half decent sierra estate to get the cossie treatment

it's very easy
all you need to do is find an estate which has rear discs and the whole complete cossie moving bits will simply swap in if you use the estate arms
be aware that there are 2 sets of arms with wider/narrower mounting points and although koni used to do the proper suspension for them they don't any more (proper being fully adjustable etc like the ones i had and not just lowered struts etc)
you will also have to mod the arms to take the rear anti roll bar but that's easy enough, and the mounting points are already there on the body
everything else just bolts on but be aware that the exhaust is longer on the estate because the body is longer, but seeing as most cossie exhausts tend to have long tail pipes you may be able to get this sorted, just beware of the extra kinks it may require to clear the rear suspension
but yes, if you are aware of these issues then you can simply unwire a cossie and fit it to the estate

Thanks guys, Dojj, I shall be calling on you for advice!
I saw that one on FB, it's rough and needs welding if it's the one in Wales, I'm really looking for a mint one to be honest. If I went for a rough one I'd be aswell welding up saph as it is, but thanks anyway. I'll keep looking!
