You do realise just how fast a genuine 500bhp car is on the road, right!?
A boosted up mk1 frs on standard turbo will keep with an e46 on the straights.

A few of my mates have got E46 M3's and my escos running a stage 3 setup and T34 is noticeably quicker.

Power as with anything means nothing, it's just part of an equation, the M3 is a heavy car and has less torque, even a Cosworth with less power than the M3 would still leave it as it has at least two massive advantages in it's favour, the main one being weight!

Depends on whether the BMW is modified? But it would have to be highly modified to do it, and not that many have, so I'd say the cossie would walk all over it.

Is the S54 easy to modify though? Being it's a highly tuned engine, I wouldn't have thought there was much tuning you could do to them, barring going down the F/I route?

The escort will be much faster lol

You can't compare a 500 bhp car to a 320ish bp car

But

After the race/burn up

The m3 driver can carry on using his car as a Dailey
The escort will need repairs

Or the BMW's floor will crack, or if SMG the g/box will go wrong

M3's have there share of problems.

But only if it has been subject to peoples ill informed meddling, if it's setup correctly there is no reason why it should cause problems.

Them e46 m3's are mighty quick cars but a genuine 500hp cossie of any sort should beat it in a straight line, not sure about the twisties

There is no denying that in, but then it should be, being it's over a decade newer.

Against the contemporary E30 M3, (Which was a rival) the Cosworth is far superior.

From a standing start, I don't doubt what you're saying, but what above 100mph? In my opinion E46 M3's really come into their own above a ton, they seem to pull even harder at that sort of speed compared to a Stage 3 cossie.

The one i met in gear on a duel carriageway when i had 350 was just funny lol. It was a young ish guy who thought he was going buy easy but got wasted so he had a few more trys as we went over a few roundabouts and up a few more roads on which he got spanked every time lol. In the end we came to the lights and he must have been embarrassed as he sat a cars length back leaving the space next to me empty and dident try to race when the lights went green

That maybe so but I feel the difference pulled up to 100mph would make anything after that negligible. I haven't tried 100+ to be honest as I've never had use of a private road with an M3 next to me

M3's are quick but only when they get going. Around town is not going to show you what a M3 can do. A stage 3 4x4 cossie is not going to leave for dead a E46. RWD and stage 3 and above and you should walk it

My mate has an E46 that he thinks is the fastest thing on Earth, I would happily pay someone on here to come my way and show him up in a Cossie

Yes a decent power cossie would kill a e46 m3 in a straight line but throw in a few bends or down a country road and the bmw would be gone as long as the bmw driver could actually peddle on.

I would hope if your putting 500bhp through a cossie you've uprated the resr of the running gear to match which would even it out.
