Default Identifying cams... (CVH)

Hi there,

A mate of mine has a cam in his CVH 1.6 but is unsure of what one it is. The previous owner (not really that clued up) said it was a CVH34 but as its a carb'd 1.6 I'd have expected it to have been a 22.

Is there any way of identifying the cam? (haven't pulled the top off - wanted to find out incase I was wasting my time looking for numbers that weren't there

Thanks in advance.

pull dissy out and look at the end of the camshaft, should say the part number, eg cvh22 or cvh33 (kent ones), 285 (piper) etc.

Remove the bolts that keep it from falling out.

undo the two bolts holding it to the head.
mark the dissy against the head before removal though
