Question best timing marks for bd14& bd 16

as title what is the best settings for best throttle response

engine spec

Engine made 500.5 bhp & 408 ft/lb when it was dyno'd at Field Motorsport at 24 psi has hit( 42 psi) at times.

Current spec is : 200 block, cooper rings with six long studs, Carillo h-section rods, Cosworth forged and pocketed pistons, BD16 Inlet, BD14 Exhaust, WRC spec big port head, custom plenum and a good old T4. Running on a L8 with MSD coil pack conversion and closed loop with air to air boost control.it also has ALS&launch control .

the last time i drove it it had horrible surge problems so its worth re doing the timing.

Hi ya andy..

Well iv learnt alot since i did this engine for you and also stopped using tommy to do dynos..
Not because he cant map but because his dyno tell porkies etc..as you know it was 500 hp at 24 si on his dyno but needed 33+psi to get the 511 on the dd rr which tbh is much more realistic..

Any way the amount of boost your making ie over 34 psi imo is to much for your spec and could be altered in your map to suit etc..

tell me what your cam timing is with your set up at mo and i can tell you what if any changes you can make but it will or can cause changes in the map..

Its probably 112 in and 112 ex or 110 110 ,if so it can be made more lively down low by retarding the exhaust cam slightly..

Let me know mate and il be able to help

cheers danny
