Default Calling all mechanics............

Afternoon guys,

Im looking at buying a new scanner for the garage very soon and wonder which one you use and if you think it's any good.

How often does it need updating, what did it cost to buy, what can/can't it do???

There's so many out there to choose from, it's making the decision really hard.

Cheers for your help

Dave

used the snap on stuff, launch, and the bosch,
i think the snap on stuff is he easiest to use
the launch is the best if you know how to work it properly
and the bosch was way over priced for what it was

I specialise in French cars so have, Peugeot planet, Renault clip and the Citroen version (can't remember the name) as you can imagine brilliant.

For all other makes I literally just bought the snap on soulus ultra and have to say very pleased with it, gives you all the live data required, regens most diesel cars exhaust systems, have already done a focus, a Volvo and an Audi a4. Seem ps do do what I need it to.

Cost me £1750 screwd the dealer right down, he has me on the van mostbweeks and i cant resis t new toys, needs updating every 3 months which cost about £80.

Not tried much else that does the same, although I found out today it don't do jags.

Disagree,

i use the KTS200 in any of my centres before i fire up the 670, love both machines for what they do

except range rovers and jags

but the backup i have is also brilliant from Bosch, best diag equiptment ive ever used

although for the everyday use, solus ultra if i had to pay for a machine myself for home and i didnt have use of a KTS200/670

I've not used any others in depth to offer a comparison.

Got a 570, it's brilliant. Even tells you how to diagnose and test correctly before you buy a part.

Bosch + scope + multimeter = no more parts darts!! ( well nearly always, there's always 1 lol)

And with the latest update and esi 2.0 it's even easter to access the information you need! Also jag and landy has just got better,

And also just tO add, carman scan for jap,Korean, ssangyong Kia daewoo etc.
So easy and so simple for £1600 you cannot go wrong!! It's even good at European + eobd's as well. The best £1600 you'll ever spend an diag equipment!!

RSargie, the 670 is a 570 with a scope, multimeter, wiring diagrams etc

and CAS is brilliant for giving needed readings for various components and wiring checks

i also get part number checking facility, for sensors and cross referancing purposes,
shelf life for sensors, i.e Lambdas are normally 60,000 miles before reccomended changing (non wide band)

i was shocked at how in depth it is, nothing ive used comes close

Yeah, that is the only good feature of the 200 it's very easy to use!
Can be very slow at times
Find it freezes up sometimes!
It's only updated annually
Can be very long winded to reset some service lights
And there is to many common cars it doesn't talk to!

It's just my personal opinion but.... Snap on wins every time when it comes to diagnostics equipment!
