Good estate car advice please!
I am looking for an estate car. I have £2,500 to spend. Looking on Ebay and seen a few Scooby Wagon's. These look nice plus I think should go well being around 220bhp, but.....Are they expensive to run/maintain? I know Volvo did a V40 T4 which is 200bhp, would this be a better bet or any other estate cars which will have a bit of 'go' in them. Saying needing a bit of performance I think some of the diesels are pretty good these days and can be re-mapped for that extra performance plus having economy......So I am a bit stuck on what estate to go for!

Peugeot 406 V6 estate!
Had two 406's and loved them!
There's also the 2.2 HDi which with a DeFAP and a remap will push 180bhp easy.

I am so behind with times, shows my age! So diesels these days really can go well then? I need an estate for my dog, I have a medium sized mongrel. I would really like something like a coupe but dont think it would be very practical for the dog as he comes everywhere with me. I really like the look of those BMW coupes, maybe a 3 series BMW estate? Reading up on Scooby's and every article says they drink fuel, has anyone here had one?

if you just want a wreck to carry things then get a shitty old fiat marea weekend.
my friend bought a 100k old one 2 years ago for £300. he literally hasnt spent a penny on it in that time and its done everything he could ask in terms of lugging shit everywhere.
sure it looks shit, drives shit and is slow but other than that its the most reliable car he has ever had
Shocking for a fiat.

A diesel it may well be then!
Looked at S4 Audi Estates on Ebay, lovely looking cars but then read they average 18-20MPG......Ouch! Performance figures are impressive though hitting 60 in the late 5's and on to a top speed of 155mph, but I would be scared if anything went wrong having 2 Turbos, 2.7 30v engine, sod trying to work on that!
Going to look at Pug 406 Estates now, the HDI versions!!
