ive been given a brand new fuel pump by my mate who is fuckin off to australia so he no longer needs it. he said it was a 9 bar pump an better than a 044. the numbers on the pump are 0 580 254 979? would this be ok on my escos? or over kill ???? thanks for any input

im running a in line pump at the mo but its a standard cos pump. so would the pump ive been given be ok to run on it mate?

Yes that is better than the std 941 pump.

good old 979 pumps, as stated not as good as an 044 pump, but still capable of fuelling 4x600cc injectors comfortably.
it will be usable inline.

p.s. if your after something overkill, look for a 413 pump better than an 044 in most aspects, hard to get hold of though.
