Default Uninsured but taxed, what do i do?

The missus has just got a new car but hasnt sold the old 1 yet.
Both cars are taxed and kept on a drive but her old car now has no insurance.

It wont get used but the law says if it has tax it must have insurance or be declared sorn and then doesnt need insurance.

The problem is as the car is going to be sold obviously we dont wanna sorn it, so what do we do?

How long after stopping the insurance does it need to be sorned?
Any thing else we can do?

I've kept a car uninsured but taxed on private land for months on several occasions!!! Technically this may not be legal, but it would take a very bold copper to stroll up your drive and PNC check it!!!

Basically I wouldn't worry at all, and would just get it advertised and go from there.

disclaimer - use this advice at your own risk etc etc

I owned my Cosworth for 6 month with valid tax but no insurance, on private land. Nothing happened.

Aslong as on private land cant touch you. If council property councils can request its removal

It's got nothing to do with private land it's now all done using Dvla and mid. It will flag up if the car is taxed but uninsured then you revieved a fine in the post. Just cash in the tax, sorn it and when someone buys it knock off the value of the tax.

I think the DVLA computer system is all a scam to put the fright up us, ive had cops pull me over for having no insurance/tax before as their database says so, but the car is always taxed, mot'd and insured.
I'd go for the "chance it" approach!

I think as long as its been insured while its taxed in your possesion its ok.

I had a transit I bought with tax on but never had insurance for it, just took out temp insurance on the occasions I needed it and never heard anything

This is correct, everyone else that's said if it's on private land it's ok, is wrong. The fines are automatically issued, you may get one, you may not.
