multimeter question!
going to test my golf to see if im getting power to my ignition relay, but what setting do you turn the knob onto as there are so many?
i friggin hate electrics

Round to V on the left hand side and to 20 should do the job

V-~ 20
Black probe connected in the centre socket, red probe connected to r/h/s socket.
Black probe to an earth, red probe to power.

I struggled with mine till I found a summary of what it can actually do in Practical Classics.
Don't know if Stu ever did a write-up on using multi-meters but it might be a useful addition to the series.

use a bulb instead then you can check it under load! you can get 12v through 1 strand of wire! a muti meter can sometimes be miss leading
