Default timing chains???

does anybody know if the timing chains from the sierra/scorpio/galaxy engines are the same

will a 16v chain fit an 8v???

i think they are, i got one for my sierra dohc, and i think galaxy was on the box aswell...

unless someone else can say for sure..

cool just i keep coming across galaxy/scorpio 16v chains but no sierra ones

thats a fair bit pricier than the galaxy one i found. and according to that link all the chains are the same

it just i dont know wether my cars done 65k or 165k and i got no service . so dont really know what to do?

if it was me id take a look, check for wear on chain, gears and check tensioner.

ive got some 1970s cat engines and they are all gears in the timing cover and most of them have never been changed done over 40000 hours !

what am i looking for on the chain? iv noticed lately as i have just serviced to car its a bit noisey kinda reminds me of chain slap on a bike! as tapets and all are fine.

my mate does alot of chains of newish diesels and the biggest failure cause is tensioners failing.

hes starting to just check the whole fleet out now so hopefully no more fail and need valves etc.

My dads done the same, It sounded like it was hitting the cam cover,
The top chain guide was broken,

Also there is a screw in the top of the oil pump that comes loose which causes low oil pressure and can make the engine sound tappy,

Are you sure its the chain making a noise and not the tappets?

Worth checking the screw in the oil pump,
