10K+ Poster!!
Keep the 4i but do some changes (wheels etc), maybe do what Mr. Hadland did with the RS500 and modernise it a little?

The other day you drove it and didnt feel anything for it and didnt enjoy driving it, but now you are missing driving it? The 2 are at opposite ends of the scale.
Now you are going to get the engine built but dont know what to do with the 4i? How pointless.
Save yourself the time, money and aggro and work out what it is you want 1st

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Steve once u have the engine built back up it will be sitting there until u drop it back into the 4i because ur miss driving it or miss the turbo boost. What you need to decide is do u want to keep the 4i cossied or do u want a moonstone 3 door as everyones been saying? Once u have decided that u can decide what u want to do with the engine and what car the engine will go in

Sorry dude but there's a world apart between a 3dr Cosworth and a jazzed up XR4i with a Cossy engine, the XR4i wants a different engine (V8 maybe?) otherwise it just a wannabe. I built the same sort of car back in the late eighties and bailed out and bought a proper Cossy.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
build the motor again into the 4i. then while your bank balance is healing, save up for a cossie shell ect. do full resto on the cossie in the colour you want and in the meatime run the 4i. i personally think the cossie4i is one of the coolest cars on here cos of the decent power and it appears to be a 4i with different alloys at a standstill. sleepers are the bollocks. it also looks tidy.

makes a change for a thread with sensible comments in it, I agree with many that say the 4i is something different as at moment you have no real competition in this type of car steve, as 3drs are more common than yours, so go with your heart and build the engine then freshen the car up with a lick of paint and a new front bumper and your onto a winner, ready then for central show on the passionford stand

Had it 10 years now all but a couple of weeks.
I along with a few mates built it up from a bare shell.
The car has evolved over this time to its current spec. Its very hard to just get shot of it. Its never had a resto, and will be 29 years old this year

steve if i was you i would build a sensible spec usable, cheaper engine for the 4I and keep the rest towards a 3 door, moonstone of course.
Ps id also remove the carpet inside the 4I and see if the seals are still attatched to the floorpan if you have never looked.

cossie fan (unluckerly)
Keep the 4i but put a cossie bumper on it! Its only money if it brings you enjoyment then why not you only live once! But I wouldent fuck about building the engine to a lower spec it would be a step backwards
