Not often you see one of these crop up let alone being sold for the Police

It states in the auction it's being sold on behalf of the police from a confiscation order. That suggests to me it's more likely to have been taken from a criminal maybe, drug dealer or similar who they've deemed to have gained it from proceeds of crime? It's got the service history and stuff.
Could be a serious touch for a buyer if it's a straight car and just been taken off a criminal.
15k mile concours winner, it'd be about Ł40k on pistonheads...
Checks piggy bank..

the thing with this car is it will always have a stigma to it and a tainted history even though nothing as actually happened to the car apart from it being taken off the owner and auctioned off by the police.
Plus you will never make a profit on it cause everyone in the rs scene will be watching it and will know what it goes for.

i think it being in its position wont harm it 1 bit, if anything its better it had known history and just because it could been bought with a bag of fivers it still looks like one of the best rs500's around and loosk untouched by silly hands, no daft filters or wonkey dumpvalves

not that long ago an rs500 was 10 grand, shit happens, look at series ones, not long ago a grand would let you take you pic not you wont find much under 5 grand, if you dont like the idea of someone making money by reselling dont buy a house or anything collectable ever
if it worries you taht someone coudl make 10k by being teh the right place at teh right time (and an identical car isnt available for under 30k) then dont buy it and someone else will
nyrs dude sold a few cars recently top money but top condition, theres always a buyer for top cars.
i''d far rather a car that looks like that and known well than one that could have spent that time in a ditch and had a flash over with paint and looks pretty, having any rs500 that hadnt got a catc/d marker seems fairly rare too
if it was 35k and i wanted one for 35k it wouldnt matter to me, my house was worth 23k in 1995 i still paid Ł125k for it last year.
well my old man did anyways

I aint saying its not worth x amount just simply some or most peoples mentallity wouldnt allow them to pay far more than what they knew the car sold for recently.

youd be an idiot to buy it cheap then try and sell it on straight away for top dollar.
you hold onto it a while, verify its service history and current condition, then sell it on.
A good car is still a good car.
As said, rs500's could be got for Ł10k a few years ago. Would that stop people paying top dollar knowing the current owner got it cheap all that time ago? of course not.

to be fair it will sell well, someone should get a good deal, a collector will pay what they wish for it.
with so few on the market in good genuine condition i'd reckon it will not leave much profit for a quick sale after the auction. i'd have it if i were in a place to consider having a punt.

I'd be more worried about buying it and the guy who got it took of him getting his own back on the car
As I know I wouldn't be happy if I saw my car that I got took of me at an auction making daft money then it passing me on the street or seeing it at a show etc
Also does the car come with all the paper work like service history etc as surely that will effect the price and is it genuine mileage ?

Cat n isn't really a catagory it's just means not recorded and will not show up on any sites or databases. Feel for the guy who's had it taken off him like. I'd be devastated.
