Police Confiscated RS500 up for auction

Its obvious that most on this thread are not collectors. If this car completes someones collection they will pay as much as it takes. Im a collector if i see something i have not got i will go for it. Have paid over the odds many times but its now in my collection & not someone elses.
I just dont understand the hype on these very average Fords but collectors like Paul feel like they are in bed with Kelly Brooks when they see one so feel the need to pay what is to me silly money.

someone actually made a cash offer of 15k and was turned down so no doubt they are expecting a lot more
I see the 500s and 3 doors as the ultimate collectable cosworth

what most people dont understand is that these cars are now begining to get noticed by very wealthy serious car collectors and these fellas are willing to pay top money for the best cars for sale
It isnt realy the car with these kind of people either
If there mate bought a rs500 for 30k they feel they must pay more just so they can say they paid more to have one over on there rival collector
This is why we see massive prise rises on any up and coming collectable
Yes the cars history / condition is important but most serious car collectors buy cars blind
This car IMO should do 25 / 30k in todays world
The best thing about this car is its totaly std , and collectors only collect totaly std cars , hence why now std rs500"s fetch a massive premium of modded examples
Lets see
Ps,
Rod , i would give one of my 500"s for 3 mins in bed with kelly brook , And i would only need 3 mins to satisfy myself ,, lol

The only 500 I'd want if I was a collector would be a totally original, unrestored one. If it'd previously been modded and had bits sourced to put back to original or had paintwork or restoration work I'd avoid.
Seeing pictures of your Ł30k mint, original rs500 sporting mods and/or having resto work done popping up on the net after you bought it must be like seeing pics of your 'Virgin' wife on a gang bang website.

It's worth whatever someone's prepared to pay for it, and a good, straight, low mileage black RS500 will fetch strong money no matter who's selling it.
Loads of RS500s have been sold and the price made public - it's not stopped them from going up in value. I agree if someone buys this one on Monday, then puts it up for sale on Tuesday it will be tricky to turn a profit, but hang on to it for a while and it almost certainly will appreciate.

Look at programs like homes under the hammer, people buying from auction, spending a week clearing and painting a house and getting Ł15-20000 profit on it,all advertised on tv yet no-one bats an eyelid.
This has constantly been a stigma in the car world which i'll never understand, after all if you were doing some work in an old boys house and he had a clean mk2 rs2000 with low miles but needing recommissioning etc in his garage and said you could have it for Ł500 to get rid would you expect said person to sell it on for the same when they know on eBay etc it will do Ł5-6000 without a spanner going near it?
I doubt it.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if the car was siezed, though I would be inclined to change the plates just in case.
It's like how I wouldnt care less if the car was once a right off but is now certified safe to be on the road. If it's certified as safe what's the problem. Same with this really, nothing wrong with it and it could be a cheap(er) way of getting into RS500 ownership

lol @ T's & C's
5.5 Motorhog or a Seller shall be entitled at any time during any auction to submit a bid in respect of any Lot in respect of which they are the Seller
Nothing like allowing a seller to "up" the bids a bit

PassionFord Post Whore!!
its already at 20k plus, and with all the publicity and the fact the sellers can bid i think it might be one of the most expensive 500's ever sold haha

Cockney Phil.No comment on your dodgy t & c's? lol
Surely an auction where you are allowed to bid on your own items is a complete piss take?
Good to see the guy getting a decent price for it though.

I don't understand the "hype" about wanting to go over 200MPH but then again, I don't particularly care neither - If you feel that the wind blows the cobwebs out of your cardigan then crack on but don't winge and moan about other peoples passions and wants.
