not fast enough Don't think the Gearbox would be strong enough either
Car is built for trackdays and I have never liked 1/4 or Topspeed stuff
I have no interest in breaking 3k worth my gearbox for other peoples amusement to be honest though.
That enuff porkie?

Karl says i have no chance of my DIY shitter even starting let alone enter a competition.....i cant argue with that as he is the guru of YB's afterall

Basicly for some cars (like Porkies) its built for the track, so not fussed about the event, esp as the box etc isnt gonna like it.

For others its a road car thats obv not launched mega hard or top ended so the events not for them due to possible damage.

For others they just not into competing against people, and/or not into straight line stuff.

Does seem a shame that the cars that dont fall into the above categorys wont attend either tho, esp as theres soo many (ie why brunters gets used soo much)

But its entirley up to them, nobody has the right to have a go at people for not.

But at the same time it is annoying when some people say their cars are faster/better then wont directly compete.

It would be nice tho, mainly as the Cossie name has gone TOTALLY down the pan (which annoys me as i love em), Cossies have a LOT of mental proven performance times, but as they only ever done on quiet solo trips to Brunters, the general car world knows nothing about them.

Ima, so you have built your car for trackdays??

I repeat Ima, what are YOUR excuses??? I personally think you would enjoy the event. Its a great weekend (another reason I don't wanna compete is that I wouldn't be able to get totally pissed all weekend and watch the event from the best seat in the house!)

Chip, I run a SECS S8. (It runs spikeys Favourite CLOSED LOOP as well )

With the right team the Cossie boys could kick some serious arse this year, best of luck to Mike and everyone involved

And here's to seeing Mr Sharpe duck below the 10s with some decent tyres at some point this year

I disagree Porkie, ex-councours cars make good straight, unstressed and un-rotten basis for track cars

It dont change the times or make mine slower. By the time totb 4 comes round i will have the definative times for my car & im happy to compare them with the winning cars at totb 4.
Ive never seen the point of comparing my motor against other Marques if the aim was to have the fastest car a Cosworth would not have been on my starting list. Im a Cosworth fan & tried to push that envelope as far as possible, to have quicker in-gear times than the Rocket is an unexpected Bonus.
If the monies right someone or even PF could buy mine to compete at totb4, it will be competative RWD.

Rod, would it be an option to enter TOTB but only compete in the top speed run, as it would be nice if a cossie featured highly in that category even if you didnt enter the other categories or is that still liable to end up too expensive?

Certainly its what my motor would be best at , 200mph in the 1.25miles, may be possible with my new mods. But even I think thats a total no go its a team event & the Cossie boys will want to win. .

People are daft if they go into it wanting or expecting to win.

1 step at a time, kick the EVOs, Scoobys, Pulsars, asses first.

The EVO team generally come very close to winning it every yea, MAINLY as they do sooo well on the handling circuit

Check the results

The cossie team will NOT win, simple as that.

But some good finishes in the individual categories would at least make them look credible again.

If you could go along and get a top 3 finnish in the top speed run alone, then at least its a cossie on one of the scoreboards mate

Im sure the team would welcome you even if you dont want to do the handling circuit etc.

This thread started so positively.....

Just turn up and have a laff and if you win your the ultimate hero with a 1980's performance car, and if ya don't, 1980s performance car gives you a really good excuse

i've been to every TOTB, and it has been really disappointing the top stuff from the BB not turning up

Not that you should if you dont want to, but as a Ford fan it would be really cool to see the Cossie crew get well up there in the final result, and with the hardware which is out there, there is no reason why not

Realistically, going on previous years, there will be probably be two unbeatable skylines, Norris Evo, and a top spec supra that would cause serious problem and probably sort out the top Cossies on here......but then so what? Its about fun

.......hopefully the skyline boys will treat it like a bit of fun with road cars without pits and tire warmers etc.... because this distracts from what is a "ultimate road car" competition.....if I organised it I would make all cars turn up under there own power and not on the back of a trailer........

A very expensive laff if you spew a 20k engine, even a ckutch cost around Ł800 & i know mine would barely last the event. Did you see what 8 launches did to a new set of tyres in the mag. Perhaps your RS1600i aint got 650ft/lb Torque. A Laff it aint.

rod- we have no rules that say you cant come and do steady launches in the left hand lane mate to do the top speed runs only, you are not forced to do the 1/4m stuff. the rwd class top speed will be highly contested, with the supras and vipers, you would have a chance of winning it also i reckon, which would be an achievment in itself against the quality of the other rwd cars.

quite a large portion of the entrants (scoobs and evos etc) are focussed purely on the handling course, which has turned into a competition in itself between them. none of them go expecting to win overall, or to do anything on the drag strip or top speed, but they still have a cracking competition!

mike- i spoke to neil @ carwise recently, he's game if the car is ready for it apparently.

Mike why not lower the criteria a little to ensure a team gets there! Your 'dream team' won't happen as has been proven in previous years! Take the 10 fastest cars instead of 3/4 that meet your 'standard' and give everyone a chance to be involved
