Default real rs200 or not ?????

i just seen an rs200 on ebay for nearly 125k and i did a check on the reg it seems it was made in 1993 am i wrong or would this make it a kit car or replica or is it genuine the reg was L20 ORS . Is this just yet another person trying to cash in on the rs badge or could it be late registered tho the 93 date of manufacture seems strange as the seller says it an 86 car.

why is it listed as a 1.8 engine, thought these cars had the same basic engine as a sierra cosworth should be 2.0

Because it has a 1.8? They didn't have yb/Cosworth engines in them, they had 1.8 BDT's.

I used to clean / wax cars in the summer holidays at Fast Lane Sports Cars in Standish, and it was in the show room then. Must be 13/14+ years ago!

the way i understand it is that ford built these originally for group b rallying in 86, then it was band almost as soon as the rs200 was built, meaning ford had a warehouse full of brand new unregistered rs200's which they had no use for and took years to sell off,(which explains the late registaration on this car) and made a loss on every one.

the dvla have got the year of manufacture as 1993 and the date of first registration also 1993. Is this allowed ? I know cars can sit for years sometimes before registration but i thought the year of manufacture could'nt be altered.Just goes to show you dont know how old your car really is lol

Ford actually had to build 200(ish) road cars to homologate the race car, so you are right that when banned they had a stock to sell off, but these were unsold road cars not race cars 'left over'

Many were late registered and many were assembled from parts

www.rs200.org will tell you all you need

200 cars made 24 of which were evo's . and apparently enought spare parts were made to build atleast anouther 20 or so cars. mainly for rally teams.
