More likely that someone fancies a tax exempt logbook for their own Mk1 rather than one being stolen.

Alot of Mk1's should be tax exempt these days anyway as they'll be pre-1974 IIRC ? I can't see anyone who runs a nice Mk1 being worried about putting 6 mths rent on one....won't need a year as won't get used during the winter in most cases.
