Normally those wanting a race are the worst drivers going, I tend to let them carry on.
One of the funniest occasions was a lad in his saxo vts, pull up at a set of lights and is revving away. Lights change and he roars off to victory as I pull away in a normal fashion (this is right in the city centre).
I happened to say to my mate 'hope we find the tit buried in a lampost round the corner'. Well, it wasnt a lampost, but was a brand new merc and the saxo was almost inside it, with a very angry business man tearing strips of saxo boy, who is now on the verge of crying.
Was rude not to beep and wave as we passed. It was classic.

I don't even waste my time on lesser cars...
Although last week was ace glued to the back bumper of a mr2... Stuck at 80 thought the twisties... Guy thought it was a gti till I revved the little 1.8d

I dont see the point in racing away from the lights against some chav car or lesser car. Youre just asking for trouble because the dickheads driving ego way exceeds his ability and he will take silly risks to try and make himself look cool to his 14 year old pregnant slut girlfriend.
Nothing wrong with a bit of heavy acceleration from the lights etc but it aint worth it with some idiot beside you or behind you because he will drive like a dick and possibly cause an accident, and just because you floored it, it will end up as a racing on highway and dangerous driving charge by association, even though you have nothing to do with him and were just accelerating hard because you wanted too, not because you intended to race.

I'd never tag onto a fast car that was giving it some because they they could most likely stop quicker, handle better or even drive better. Meeting a car at the lights and having a short burst of acceleration say 0-60, is not going to start a war. Know your limits,your cars limits and keep an eye on fast eddy in his more powerful car. He may own a fast or expensive car, but it doesn't mean he/she can drive well either.

i have had a few laughs, but i tend not to bother with lesser cars to be fair.
i don't race top end cars, i enjoy the fruits of my build when i can, occasionally i do push it hard.
i fond it unfair to put myself against anything sub 250bhp, i have nothing to gain in cool points on the road really, i know what i have under the bonnet, to the rest it's just an xr2 with bigger wheels and an noisy exhaust.

The other day i was coming home from work on the motorway when i came to 1 of three roundabout i encounter on the way home, as i stopped at it a Blue ( GIRLY CAR ) Vauxhal Corsa VXR 1.6 Turbo came around the roundabout and look at the car then looked at me and while almost a laughing expression on his face, as he went round i joined the roundabout behind him and then joined the Motorway, i didnt floor it as it was a VXR with 190 odd BHP and 170 lb/ft and really didnt think it was worth the point in bothering, i think he realised i wasnt accelerating with him after about 200mtrs and the twat actually slowed down and enticed me to race him lol.
Anyhow, the second roundabout came up, he stayed in the left lane and i went in the right lane, ( both going straight over to join the motorway again ) he was reving his hair dryer up for the love of fuck lol, i hadnt opened mine up at all so far so i thought id do it in style and turn the Anti lag on.
the roundabout was clear and i gave a few PURE MOTOR SPORT revs into his driver side window while the wastegate was going off like no tomorrow, he launched first straight across without wheelspinning lol, me on the other hand span in 1st 2nd and part of 3rd as the 30 PSI came in lol, he gained on me for about 4 seconds untill i got into 4th, i really put the power down then into 5th, as i put it into 5th i was doing probably about 40-50 more than him and and the change came i blew the wastgate pressure off into his window again to the added sound of Anti lag, while wiggling my index finger left and right to tell him " NO NO NO MATE ".
Dont get me wrong, i should of just let him entice me and still not bother as the power difference is laughable, but seeing as it was a corsa i really couldnt help myself but to shut him up in the loudest possible way, i think the guy actually thought his car was unbeatable or something ?
( side note, some classic nutty barstard RS driving techniques were needed to really rub it in i.e lots of undertaking and darting in and out while destroying the opponent lol )
i had a few mins break and thought id share this with you guys, i'm shore some of you guys have similar story's.

I used to get dickheads trying it on all the time when i had my old escos.
I found the best way to deal with them was just to ignore them completely,its
amazing how someone can look so stupid and all driving abillity can fall appart when they
realise they are trying to race themselves.

What the monkey hadnt realised is that a cop car was a couple of cars back in the other lane.
Soon as hed left the lights in a cloud of tyre smoke, said cop car put on his blues and twos and pulled him over
Epic fail by a chav.
Even more funny was on the way back from the supermarket id been to, saw his car being driven onto the back of a tow truck having been siezed.
What a twat he clearly was!!

To be fair everyone enjoys a play now & then, as long as it is safe to do without putting anyone else in danger.
I will never forget the look on a brand new 911 C2s drivers face as he got absolutly battered by a manky old F reg Sierra
More fun is playing with the lads who are absolutly desperate for a race, my favourite trick is the "False start", just before the lights change give it some big revs & nip the clutch, then stop immediatly, had a few cars shoot away straight through a red light

No one ever wants to race me either! I do like the fiesta though as when i did have a play ONCE Its more of a challenge as you have to work more to put up a fight!
Showed that push-bike right up! Should of seen his face and his waving his hands about while laying on the floor! That will teach him to stay out of my way!

When I had My cosworth used to get kids all the time at traffic tights wanting to race so I just reved engine up and made shit load of noise and smoke then gently pulled away while watching them try and ring their 900cc pathetic plastic clad Saxo engine to death. Traffic light races are pointless as pat of time you in 30 or 40 zone

Corsa VXR's are no biggie, surprised it took you til 4th to catch him. Even my battered drift 200sx running less than stage 1 on shite tyres can do them.
But more people try and 'race' me when I'm driving my Fiesta, normally home from work. Gets boring and I just let them get on with it, I want to get home, and save petrol tbh.

I never really wanted to spend more money on her but with the power and spec ive got 300bhp @ 331 lb/ft its only so long before you boot it and 5th strips or the box blows up, like i said the clutch is on its way out and it really needs doing, the other thing thats tells me the clutch is slipping is the speed differences at 3,000 revs, sometimes its 64 MPH and sometimes its 70 MHP also the wheel spin factor still happens but it happens later on higher up the gear range, really looking forward to feeling the new box when its put in.
I let lesser cars go and carry on but when its a stupid plastic Saxo or a haird dryer corsa provoking you on a semi congested motorway then its simply game on.
LOL some of these storys are funny, its always a saxo lol or a fucking corsa lol, why bother indeed

I really like the Corsa VXR. Much much rather have one to an old RsTurbo to be honest. Especially as a road car.
I hired one at the Ring few months back. Excellent car I thought. This was modified... but I really liked the standard one as well.
I also think your story is possibly one of the worst things I have ever read in the history of this site (including Imas posts about sucking off his own dog)

I agree its stupid but sometimes man juice kicks in,I drive a 90bhp 1.3 cdti astra van daily and you always get people hanging on your arse so I either brake harshly or show them on the lanes power is nothing,I do 100 miles a day which consists of 60mph single lanes,my problem is old folk who are clearly living in the 60's that plod along at 30-40mph,so yeah I drive like a dick quite alot but after a 10hr shift stuck behind someone who shouldn't have a license gets a little frustrating and I have zero patients which is hard living day to day,and my last point is when you next go on the motorway look at how many people indicate to switch lanes.its like this rule has been erased,did 30 mile on the a55 yesterday and no BS I must of seen maximum of 3 cars indicate,big headed or not I can drive fast safley but what makes it dangerous is the other people driving with very little experience

I really like the Corsa VXR. Much much rather have one to an old RsTurbo to be honest. Especially as a road car.
I hired one at the Ring few months back. Excellent car I thought. This was modified... but I really liked the standard one as well.

, the vxr's are good cars but driving round in modern vauxhall's every day it just doesn't compare to the rs turbo,I like the raw feeling that no vxr will bring,,Would you have a corsa vxr put away in your garage as a sunday car?

notice my post does not say its faster than a vxr,but everyday I would have a vxr but as something abit raw,retro and fun rs turbo every time and that does not mean the rs is better or faster but more special to me and Im fooking LMAO as never even knew MO was the OP, MO MO MO happy BS
