wrap a layer of masking tape around the hose before you cut it. either cut it with a 1mm disc in an angle grinder, or as i done as i broke the grinder, a very sharp chisel and a big mallet lol

take the tape off then slide the nut part over the hose and then push the inner part of the hose into the fitting and then tighten the nut on

ala

the second part is for hoses like goodridge braided brake hoses that use an olive

or if its the push fit type, i found that putting the end in boiling hot water for a few seconds makes it slide over the ridges fittings a hell of a lot easier and a spray of wd40 .

Yes there's specific types for the type of hose being used

The teflon hose can only be used with teflon fittings which are the olive type!

Depends on the car I guess, and your set up, I ordered 3 meters -8 and 6 metres of -6, my car is a 100e so not too long, I only needed more -6 as ive got swirl pots and twin tanks, got a bit left of both.

Need to see what hose you have too. As said you have standard Aeroquip style fittings for rubber stainless outer braded hose. If you have teflon hose then thats your issue.

Follow the advice above for assembly as it is spot on - I do no different and have no bother. The trick is a clean cut with minimum fraying of the outer braid. Any frayed outer will impede insertion into the fitting. Only other bit of advice is don't use a chisel to cut - not clean or accurate enough (my opinion), use a thin, 1mm disc in an angle grinder every time.

Where abouts are you as a helping hand can often revive confidence in a project like this too.

Problem is I have 23 an6 cutter type fittings, rubber hose is alot cheeper than Teflon, can I use Teflon for powersteering fluid with correct fittings ? Don't think quip is addictive just people buy wrong so find places to use it rather than waste lol

Teflon is better for fuel any way as the rubber is meant to leave a fuel smell plus ive been told over time moddern fuels will eat away at the rubber hose! so id get new fittings if i was you and use the teflon with fuel

You can use Teflon for the pas hose return lines but not the feed as the feed pressure is too much at around 90 bar
