I always wanted a cossie, and drive karen mad now cosi still want another one, my cos was mega reliable as stage 1 driving to london and back day in day out, but I just cannot justify the repair costs shoudl summit go wrong or get karen to bleive me when i say wont mod it past stage1
I can afford an Esc cos, thats not a prob, and asits a dream car thats but in relaity i cant justify the costs of insurance/parking etc plus wouldnt want to put the motorway miles on it etc is a shame as i always thought the only thing stopping me getting one would be me unable to afford it, which is not the case

Rick maybe I just drop you my car with couple of quid and you make it as reliable as yours? What do you think?

I think they do look the bolloxs to be honest..... more a kin to the aggresive looks of the Escort Cossie. But it's all down to personal choice again though.
Even if I am a bit biased....
I have also made the fatal mistake of now looking at an engine rebuild (I know I said I wouldnt), to go along with the handling mods. Fortunately I am in a better position with the Subaru (with all my contacts) to perhaps get something together that would be competitive at TOTB (well certainly amongst the Scooby crew). Which is something I always wanted to do in the Ford, but never had the drive or the remortgage to do it!
Fingers crossed and watch this space!

i think scoobies sound horific, like a washing machine thats about to blow up! and fagins pics really dont do it for me,to me it looks cack too! always loved cossies since i was young and always will, want one sooooo bad again at the mo! oh,and the mrs would kill me if i ever even mentioned a scoob!good girl she keeps me in line! BUT i can see why people want them, pretty quick without the same shit as a cossie breakdown wise, and all weather capability(my main gripe with my old saff was that with 418 bhp i got to play about once a month if that cos of breakages and weather, rain = slowest car in the world!)

You guys must get different hardware on Scoobys than we do over here. Their engines are VERY sensitive to MAF sensor being clean, and their transmissions make the ones in my Mazda rally car look stone-reliable by comparison.

EscortWRC,
Subaru modifications and tuning have come an incredible long way in the past 24 months. The standard 6sp box in the STi's is reputed as being the strongest standard box yet.
A REAL reliable 350bhp in a STi (yes... and the UK ones as well) is now a de-cat exhaust, induction kit, 3 port boost solenoid and remap away nowadays (which is cheap and no where near the £5-£6k quoted previously). Quite a number of the UK STi's (latest shape) are still standard (260bhp or 305bhp with the Official Prodrive Performance Pack) as many of the owners are still under the warrantys.
Having 350bhp in one of these make for an extremely rapid car, let alone the 400+BHP ones. I personally think it would be rude not to have 400+bhp in one of these cars!

When they first brought the WRX over here, Subaru USA was changing transmissions at EVERY service.
Recommended life was 100 stage miles....and this was the Prodrive stuff
They had the same problem for 3 years in a row.....that's FANTASTIC quality control, but absolutely SHITTY engineering.

Ugly, sound shite and cost more to tune than a cossie.
Probably a better "standard" car though due to being newer
I would not buy one unless I felt the need to make an impression down the "Blue Oyster Bar" :gayflag:

SCOOBYS ARE LIEK NOVAS AND AUDI TT TOOO FCUKIN COMMOM cossies look hard and manly scooby looks like a gay 17 yr olds car who has no taste
thats why evo and scoobys are cheap 2nd hand they dont hold there money
cossies do because there is only 1 rs500 and escort and saf etc they make new flippin evo every month near enuff
I WOULD CHOOSE COSSIE OVER JAP ANY DAY

And that was from someone who has owned 2 Escort Cossies before!
I can stand people saying the looks are terrible, they lose more money than anything ever, too common etc etc but when they say the Escort etc etc is a better car around corners!!! They need one of these around there heads!
For as many people that love Cossies I can show you as many people that hate them!
IT'S HORSES FOR COURSES!!!
I love em both..... but at times you have to be slightly realistic dont you!
Ask yourself this though....
Why don't Ford produce anything like the Impreza now?
Perhaps because they know they won't actually be able to sell enough of them because there image is way to diluted now (and thus not return a profit). I think we should all give people like Subaru, Mitsi etc etc a round of applause for having the nads to produce a mass produced production car of this ilk.
Pound for pound the Scooby and Mitsi are the best A to B cars of there time. And I think we all know that is fact, whether we like them or not.

I'm sure that if Ford brought out a Mondeo/Focus RS Cosworth, they would be snapped up quicker than any Scooby, and would still be worth more than a packet of fags after a couple of years.

Because somebody @ marketing department think C-max will sell better...and they are probably right. Performance car are GONE. Or almost gon.e Homologation specials are DEAD for years already and some people just can't understand that. There won't be cars like COssies, early Scoobies, Maazda GT-R, Nissan GTiR, Audi S1 or Lancia HF Integrale. This is a breed that has died out and we have last remnants of it - museum pieces on wheels. One of the reasons why I get mad when I see posts "Cossie braking, RS500 braking, Saphy braking" ehhh... sorry - just got a little nervous.
I don't understand this UK based Jap Vs. Ford battle :-/ They are 4x4 turbocharged homologation specials and people schould keep tougether agains rstrictions, police, MOT or whetever that threatens this last remnats to disapear from roads and stages.
Maybe it would be much better for whoole motoring road if time and effort spend on taslking shit at each other with jap people some people would spend their time trying to press Ford not to discontiniue vital parts for our cars....

Agree about makin a profit though - I wonder how much Ford lost on each FRS sold.............
