@ Azrael

Carl,
True the engine is awesome...... just a shame the rest of the car is years behind!

Modify them and they can become excellent cars, but one consideration is that by the time you have spent the money to make them handle as good as a Scooby or EVO (and quite frankly the cost to make a Cossie handle like an EVO VIII for instance would cost you £1000's), you might as well of bought one to begin with!

Out of the box they are almost untouchable and if you spend the same on handling and engine mods on both types the gap just keeps increasing.

Look at TOTB for instance, no disrepect to any of the Cossie entrants but it does seem to be a Jap dominated event.

Even the WRC team can't seem to get it right (even though I STRONGLY believe this year is FORD's year).

Ford may have a competitive car, but they'll need better drivers to win either of the titles.

Pug and Citroen will wither since PSA pulled the plug and I doubt that their development budgets are anywhere near Subaru or Ford (who are staying)

Same here mate, no problem at all. Not 100% reliable of course, far from it, but I never had a 100% reliable car in my life. And PLENTY of mates owning BMW etc. get lots of expensive bills in their "reliable" German cars. Not sure about Jap, I don't know anyone who would stoop that low

Carl,

Actually......

If you take the Escort Cossie, it's arse got whipped on the WRC scene by guess what! The scoobs and the EVO's!

Many people said it was an ageing platform that had been rapidly over taken by the so called "Jap Crap".

Ford has never regained it's reign since the days of the Escort MK1's & 2's tbh.

The sapphire was successful on the rally scene, but of course the RS500 dominated the Touring Car scene.
