gear knobs adapter...
Hi all,
I'm after a nylon gear knob for the rally car but they're all m10 threaded screw on ones
Problem is the MTX75 gear lever is pull up and uses push on gear knobs
so is there any adapters out there i can use? had a look around but can't really find what i'm after

thats what im going for but its a screw on but my stick is push on because of the pull up reverse
thanks
Ash

Not sure if the stick fitting is the same on the MTX75 but I'm using a Scorpio gearstick on the MT75 in my Sierra so I could fit a leather EsCos gearknob. The Scorpio has a screw-on knob instead of the push-on one in the Sierra.
i was thinking that but i doubt it will be the a bigger enough diameter as the hole on the gear knob would need to be 30mm

yep measured it off the old standard for one, because the part it slides onto is a plastic bit, which is 30mm in diameter, tried to see if you can take the plastic part off and leave the pull up piece but it wouldn't budge
i cant remember how but it will come off. ive done it before where you have to cut the top part of the sliding bit off just leaving the finger grip part. the actual lever was nowhere near 30mm, thats fecking big to be a lever lol
right i'll have another look at it later then, i know the actual lever isn't 30mm its like 8 or 10mm, its this top part which the gear knob slides onto im on about
Well i knew i something wasn't right, can't twist it you have to pull it it can off, with a struggle but its off now, this is what im left with...

So i need an adapter for that now then,...
anyone know of anything to fit that then?

If the new one is a nylon 'Quaife' type one and its a fairly tight fit, you could drill / tap a grub screw to locate in the groove around the stick, where the old knob located?
i dont need to dismantle it anymore than i have now mate, thats all i needed to do and just need to buy and fit the new gear knob now,
the rubber pull up could be bought from Ford i'd guess, but if you haven't got it don't waste your time installing it, it was a mess to remove, had to completely take apart the whole gear linkage, there is a cable that runs down the center of the shaft with a tab at the bottom of it that lifts up when you pull the hand bit up, it really isnt worth installing it, i have removed for rallying
does anyone knoe wher I can get one with a switch in for arming NOS ????? I dont't realy want it to be active till about 3rd gear!
I am in the middle of rewiring a push to start one but it's a bit of a ball ache!!!!
