Nothing is bomb proof, if they want it they'll get it

heard horror stories of these things being left where the car once was, to make them more effective weld bars along the rear of them so they can't be bent off the steering wheel so I've heard

As per above, needs modifying to make it stand up but nothing is perfect.

As part of layered security they are great.

Are the silver ones stronger / better than the yellow ones? Thought they were just different colours!

IIRC they are Thatcham 3 so might even help get a little off insurance premium. I use mine every time I park anywhere.

As a steering lock goes they are probably one of if not THE best.OK they have around long enough for people to know how to get them off.As a deterrent they work wonders for the average snap n cap twocker.I have two and have used them for at least 15 years.I have even borrowed one out and an attempt was made on the car, disklock won .
As long as you dont rely on this as your main security it should be fine. One of my locking mechanisms broke and I mentioned it to a guy on the DL stand at one National day,a few days later new parts arrived through the post foc

they are a good deterrent, nothing like a big huge chewy padlock on your motor to keep the IQ 0's away, i've even seen them trying to snap and cap an 60 plate Peugeot,

Idiots

i would say get one even for newer cars as obviously thick twats don't get the message that cars of today have sophisticated anti theft systems.

If my memory is up to it,you cant snap a Peugeot or Citroen anyway. Not older ones in any case. You find as the steering wheel tends to end up in your hands
Thinking about this,60 plate peugeot you would probably end up with air bag burn's to your face lmao

As well as adding plates on the rear, you want to weld up the hinge plates and add a welded on metal strap around the top pin. Then they cant attack the hinge or the pin and cant banana it with a crow bar.

On say a 205gti you had to "micky" the ignition and wire plus I have been called out to older Citroens that had NO steering wheel, but hey this is a disc lock thread not "twockers reunited" Thats not aimed at you or me btw

Theres a KA that parks by work that uses a motorcycle chain through the steering wheel and wrapped around the bottom of the seat.

Anything that slows up some waster stealing your pride and joy can't be bad. As said though, get one from a show, way cheaper!

I still use the pedal lock on mine which I think came out before the disc lock, but made by the same company I think.
Saved mine disappearing twice back in the early 90's
