Escort RS series 2 overboosting problem please help
Escort RS Turbo series 2 over boosting please read!
My rs turbo keeps boosting up way over what it should run, it doesn't hold it just keeps going up,
I havnt got a amal valve or a bleed valve it just goes from the actuator to the turbo, I have tried a new actuator and still the same!
Any idea? I would be very greatful

remove acttuator rod from wastegate. check it moves freely. and squirt with penetrating oil if its sticky/stuck. id also pay attention to the actuator tension/preload. it maybe thats its wound up to much and causing it to boost way past its desired level. was it a new actuator or a 2nd hand one? id look at the wastegate first though.

check the pipe that goes from the actuator to the turbo is on properly and hasnt got any splits. on a -31 actuator even wound in as far as possible i only got 0.5 bar of boost and when i plugged amal valve back in it boosted to 1 bar

You should have some sort of boost control, thats totally wrong having none!
As said for the actual problem, i.e. check hose has not split, but your actuator is probably set up wrong, as if you had boost control it would be bleeding air off so the actuator woulden't need so much preload to achieve your target boost pressure I would imagine.

LMAO like it.
But i agree, check the wastegate arm for nice easy free movement with absolutely no restriction, my one moves very losely so try and get it like this if it isnt with oil etc, also check all hoses for splits and cracks. the actuator rod can be adjusted so i would take it somewhere that can adjust the actuator rod to the the arm to get your desired boost level dependent on Engine spec and capability.
overall not a massive problem to fix, quickest way is to just get a garage to look at it, check and adjust it then test it.
