Default wheel spacing on cars...

i have jst bought sum 50mm springs for my 2000 tddi focus and have got them fitted, i wna keep the standard wheels but bring them out with wheel spacers.
whats the limit for wheels to stick out??? or would it be a problem for the suspension?
do you guys do window decs for this forum as i go to local cruises!

i think that the car would fail mot if the tyre is sticking out of the wheel arch, at all, so as far as you like but youve also got to take into account the tyres rubbing on the arches over bumps

Its a difficult one mate, slightly stretched tires help an awful lot as do rolled arches to get everything to fit right. You'd need to check with an mot tester for the legalities but tbh as long as tire tread is under the arch with minimal stretch then you should be fine.

As long as the tire tread is under the arch then it should be fine..

as performance goes, as the wheel base is widened at the front, the steering will become heavier and might affect the turning circle

nice one, cheers for that guys!! all springs are now on, front is pretty low, but the back is higher than i was expecting so i shal get 5mm spacers and see how it goes. any idea where i can get my side bumpers sprayed??

Depends where your located?

Make sure you get proper wheel spacers and not cheap halford items.

you can't get hubcentric on 5mm, cheap halfords is probably your best option.

Nevermind proper spacers. Of more importances is make sure you have sufficient length wheel bolts/studs after the spacers are fitted.

Wouldnt be the first time some muppets with spacers have had their wheels fall off.
