Default Not a ford, but could really do with some advice?

Hi,

Firstly i will apologise for the long post but heres how my last weeks been spent...

Car is a BMW 330d M sport on a 03 plate... 90k

Broke down last wednesday, driving along the car cut out and would'nt restart! AA sprayed some Easystart in and it worked but cut out so the car was towed for a BMW specialist in Liverpool!

Now the car is still with them and Im no closer to getting it back, heres what they have said and done so far...

Diagnostic £40.00

Fuel Filter £30.00

Swirl Flap blanking plates fitted £180.00 (Not because it broke down, just cos i wanted them doing whilst its in)

They firstly checked the fuel pumps and said the first 2 were working to 4 bar and were fine, so thought it was the high pressure pump in the engine, so took it out and got it tested £200.00 for this

To which today they have told me its fine so they now need to look into it more, they are saying it could be a control module? Anyone ever come accross this?

Basically the car is turning over but not starting...

Any help or advice would be appreciated as im losing the will to live!

Peter

My brother had a similar problem and was told to check that the rev counter was moving when he cranked it over, if it does not move at all it could be the crank position sensor as they can be prone to fail according to the AA man.

His problem in the end was an intermitant fault with the 2nd fuel pump that took two garages and a whole load of time to sort out!
