Default Running costs (rst v cswth)

What are the long term running costs like for erst's compared to saph cosworths, just cos i was thinking of settling for an rsturbo for monetary issues and wondered if in the long run they would work out costing the same (apart from initial price, insurance)

well if ya look for a decent cossie the general running costs are the same but there better on petrol than a 200bhp erst round town

just if ya gotta rebuild it ect then ya gonna have ya spleen ripped out

tbh i got a cossie as for me it was a safer bet than a erst, im also now gonna start building a erst powered cabrio and also got hold of a XR2T so gonna make me mind up as if the cabrio is more fun and suits my driving more then im gonna break me cossie and keep the cabrio ( shame as i sold a high spec erst engine to buy me cossie )

but if ya look at costs of running my cossie prob stands me in 700 quid all in for parts costs, not gonna quote petrol as ive done 300 quid this month and 250 quid last month on petrol , i was using it everyday though and have done 7k miles in the cossie 5 months

200bhp S2's are piss poor on fuel! ive been told cossie's arent any worse on fuel economy. its just when things go wrong you start to see the difference in the bills!

thats what i was hinting at

a stage 3 cossie is better on fuel than some 200bhp erst's, there also better to drive and have a better resale value when they blow the engine and you break em as ya can get almost ya money back

erst's aint that good when ya break em

BUT the cossies aint the best handling car and only are more fun on motorways ect, round town have a laugh racing aint as much fun as the power band on em seems higher up

but the fact that they are still pulling hard at 120mph and they aint rattling the dash loose or ya mobile done fall put its holder means there great for motorways

just i feel the erst's are a "fun" car and the cossie is a power car for people with big balls ( hence why im gonna finish the cabrio )

remove the greys then and get back to the real world with petrol, think 8miles to the gallon is bad enough, on greys ya must need mobile refuling like the jet aircrafts

hey i agree with ya on that, it like eating out of larger plates, ya dont feel as much of a greedy fooker

i just stuck 3 quid of fuel in me cossie today but im not gonna touch it for a while though

i was sticking 10 quid in me car every few days for work, missus asked why not ust fill the tank, i did 50 quid and we drove to birmingham and still had to stick another 10 quid in it on the way back

i rememebr when i thought i fooked the cossie engine and never used it for 6 weeks, was out on the piss every weekend for that time and also got the fooking wheel repaired and still had money for a curry

for the last 3 months ive been soooo fooking poor , even tryed unplugging the amal valve but then the car was sooooo boring to drive i pulled over and pluged it back in

the cabrio is just slow

Rudey: its basicly ok, but then again depends on the dealer, some will be nice to you, and some will hate you for asking about those old parts that takes 10minuts to find. My main supplier is you guys in the uk
So far I have gotten these things from the UK
Charge cooler system
Scorpion exhaust system
4 spoke steering wheel
Full koni setup
And some other stuff

Some people don't want the hastle with sending abroad but I have been lucky and the stuff I have gotten have all been 110% ok

90 spec stuff is VERY rare in denmark as they sold next to none 90 spec rst's in denmark as i recall..
But there is a few diehard rst fans here.. HansenTurbo, RS-adam, Dennis etc...

I have been posting some prices that I get from ford, on pf.. and It seems that DK is a bit more expensive A new mk4 escort door from ford are £243 + VAT (VAT is 25% here) each!
I just payed £45 for 10 top bolts and £31 for a headgasket. All from ford.
I get 20% on expensive parts at ford, I guess they feel sorry for me driving that old thing around hehe.

Another problem is that we dont have any good tuners here
Quite annoying getting a cam and then NO-ONE in denmark knows how to dial it in. Most "tuners" here just set the vernier pully to "0" and hope for the best..

Oh and cossie's cost more.. cheapest saph will fetch around 8k at minimum! and the cheapest escort cossie I have seen is £20k

rst's are from 800 to about 5k for a very high spec. The problem in denmark is the laws on tuning. You see we are not allowed to tune our engine's to produce more than +20% of the original horsepower.. there are some details to it but that's kind of the rule of thumb.

Funny thing is that when I go to the NOT they all look at me like I'm thing boy racer cause of my car.. last time my dad took it as I was at work, and they walked over to talk to him about what a funny old car that was. Never seem to do that when I go to get and MOT on the car

lol.. I'm rambling on... better get to bed. work in about 5,5 hours
