Default WRC turret extentions

For give me im doing this from my phone as i have no pc at the moment.

Well hear goes... i have modified my turrets on my sapph to fit some addjustable top mounts

now where i have cut it down i may need to raise it back up as to not loose any traval either that or make the shock shorter

dose anyone know where to get the WRC type top hats or has anyone got any input as to what i should do?

Many thanks

Mine came from Dewitts mate.

When I ran Compbrake items like yours on the Saff I had to change the springs for ones 2" shorter.

I fitted springs with a higher poundage as well as being shorter to ensure the shocks didn't bottom out. If anything it was a bit 'bouncy' on rough roads but fine on track.

Turrets have been trimmed and mig welded in place already

Yeah it's a hard decision, luckily for me the bay needs painting anyway.

But looking at the pic you've posted, those will have even less height than a normal eccentric comp brake mount due to the way the sliding adjuster bit is mounted underneath.

How hard is is to match the Racing Turd colour

miller, if your worried about the paint, couldnt you cut the hole bigger on the oe turret and then fit the ones like richie posted from underneath and use a cap head bolt and washer on top with nuts on the underside, if you get what i mean lol. as all the weight of the car will be pushing up on them anyway.

that way you could just paint the turret extensions, without screwing the paint on the shell

Pics are on home PC somewhere

Cut turret top off leaving about 8mm around the edge, then fully welded around the top and stitch welded underneath just to be sure.

hello dude.

i would not do it like that, there is not much of a lip on the wrc top hat to sit on the under side , all the weight of the cars going to be sitting on a 5mm lip,

on my escort it was painted before i new i needed theses top hats , all that we had to do was blow in the turrets , it was no big deal. if worth doeing the job its worth doeing rightget them welded on.

gordon vincent or mk motorsport will make you the top hats . they would be my choice. dewitts will have the rose joint parts .

thanks steven

steven, that looks a serious bit of kit

personally i dont think it would be an issue if mounted from underneath, but then ive not seen them so cant comment on thickness of the steel used etc.

Oi Douglas i welded them extensions on so no problem with them ever coming off again fully welded top & bottom
the wrc ones will be no good to you though mate the diameter will be to small you will be better off getting some steel rolled to the same diameter as the turret & getting some 5mm profile rings to match the turret & bolt pattern like this

is the turret size not the same on a saff as a escort mate? . doug still has to much of a lip on his suspenion turret ? he could use wrc top hats and change his rose joint top mounts to wrc ones to match the hats ?

thanks steven

That may be an option but that would require long bolts and the top mount sitting on top, wich is not ideal imo???
