vags have been taken with a laptop for ages now, they tell teh ecu the new chip is cool and off they go, steering lods are an issue i think but this electrionic steering lock stuff is as easy ass anything else i guess
i have a 10 plate tranny, hope someone takes it because its a bit bashed up

its just not necessary. Ford and select automotive tools suppliers have already done the necessary programming for thier own diagnostic equipment.

No need for some computer geek to hack in and write new software.

I cant see tool manufacturers doing too many checks on who they sell stuff to.

id only ever heard about folk being able to write new keys parked next to cars before but never really thought more about it till this thread.
had a look on a chinese site thats used for lots of fake stuff and dodgy stuff that other sites like ebay dont let you list lol.dont really want to post links to them here.
its scarey how many different key programmers you can get ranging rom 100quid up.shocking that anyone can just buy them really.

m3 using a similiar setup as the ford keyless system, except the "key" fits in a hole on the dash, this hole reads the chip in the key.

Like the ford, if you can get the vehicle to think it's seeing the correct car your away. As it seems has been done on the m3, module and key swapped and away you go.

It's not actually a key anymore, a bit of plastic with a few buttons on and a chip inside..

passive-entry system may seem very complex and secure but due to how they work they are not safe, the only way to prevent this is to keep your keys shielded when not in use. passive entry are subject to two different types or attact, with a cable and amplyfier the key emits a UHF signal to authorise the car this is between 10-100m and a LF signal 1-2m to unlock and start the vehicle this is where the cable acts as a amp to boost this signal. more serious attacks are happaning where the thief uses the same technique but the cable is replaced by a wireless transmitter and reciver this, would allow a car in a supermarket to be started as the key passes a 1-2m distance of the transmitter "trolly bay"
once the car is stoped it cannot be started again this is why these cars usualy dissapear

All cars can be stolen easily with the right know how and you could only black boxs car pre 1995 theres much easlyer ways to bypass the anit theft system from 1995 to 2005 and any muppet that snaps steering locks anit real car theifs as thay can be disabled in seconds on fords upto 2005 without breaking anything and those crapy steering wheel locks you can buy are useless and cant stop anything there are deterrents only, also all aftermarket and factory systems can be disabled in seconds and i wont bother buying one unless you want to lower your insurance.

now some of you would have noiced im only talking about cars upto 2005 so far well the resson for that its there the cars i know about, now cars after that well there a joke all keyless cars can be stolen with a iphone if in the right hands so any nerd car steel your car (not only cars if you have a contactless credit or debit card you card details can also be stolen in the manner) but the TRUE FACT of it is not matter what you do if someone wants to steel your car theres nothing you can do about it because if thay want it thay know how to get it one way or anther.

Quick Tip for all car owns 2005 back if your going to leave you car for any lenght of time heres a tip on how to stop someone getting to far with your car (but it mite cause them to crash) get a 10mm spanner or socket stick your head down by the foot pedals and look and the steering bar look at the bottom and you will see a bolt take it out and after a min of them driving it will cause them to lose all steering and thay will think the cars fked and leave it but this wont stop the car beening towed or lifted away but it will help you keep your car.... Also dont try and just take thinks off the car like a steering wheel or wheels ect as thay will just come back the next day with the parts thay need to steel the car....


As for the guy whos had his car stolen, Sorry to say mate but you can say good bye to your cars its either out of uk or in 1,000s of parts with the shell crushed but you mite have it back in a few years if your lucky as sometimes then end back up on uk roads on new plates and vins and very little of them go back to the owners, So the best thing i say is i hope you get a good payout from your insurance company and i hope this doesnt happen to you again.
