who owns the first??
Just wondering out of boredom who owns the first of our beloved Rs's. As in the first series 1 and first rs500 etc. Are they still even going??!! .

mine is vin 0, so in my book the 1st. i dont care if some other company mixed them up at a later date which sounds very british but not correct.

It means that yours was the first to start being made as an rs500, as ford did assign a specific batch of chassis numbers to them.
But I can also see that the first numbered by tickford is the one they consider number one.
Interesting debate, to which there will NEVER be an answer all agree on.
Im sure the guy with a plaque in his car saying it is number 001 is never going to recognise that another car with a different number is in fact the first.

no, and as you say it just depends how you look at it.
and tbh im not fussed what everyone thinks, my logic is above and the ones who disagree i dont care.
i hope the other fellow enjoys his as much as i do mine and thats really all that matters.
the rest is debates of people who are not in the lucky position to own either one, and i dont think the fellow in norway nor i care.

this argument will come up again though whether it be in 1 week or 100 years, because there will always be some idiot who collects cars that wants to know what car hes putting in his collection

Didnt the rsoc make the number plaques(sorry about spelling). Like i asked in the other thread but.never got chance to look back at it. How do people know which car was the first one to be built. Was it the chassis numbers?

FMC put aside 500 chassis numbered 38600 - 39099 , 500 complete 3dr cosworths were shipped to tickford tobe converted and holomogated into Rs500's .
the first 4 were white and labled Development cars aka " Prototypes , these were delivered early March , all 4 tested and developed ,these were the first 4 put on the Tickford paperwork 1 other car arrived in March , 10 black cars were assigned various roles amt training cars , photography cars ,validation parts cars ,press appraisal cars .
the cars as they went through the build process were assigned a number 5 -500 ,the cars went through quite random as searching for a chassis number of a certain car would of been time consuming and not all cars were at Tickford at the same time , they were at two locations .
this build list was passed onto FISA who were holomogating the cars on Aug 1st 1987 , the List was kept quiet as it wasn't seen as important back then , the list did the rounds to key people in FMC and dealers to stop people passing off 3dr cosworths as genuine Rs500's , sadly a few people did get burnt back in those days .
the List is recognised by FMC , FISA ( now the FIA) , Tickford & the RSOC ..
Michael you do have a special car indeed , it was one of the AMT Training cars that was presented to Rudi as a gift ,you should be grinning from ear to ear as i do when i look at my 2 .
The Plaques , In 1997 Martin Lobb the First Rsoc Rs500 registra and Club Rs500 founder had the original build plaques made , in 2007 after much so called copy right woo doo Paul Linfoot current Rs500 Registra was granted permission to have these redone , prior to1997 these didnt exist , sadly today i here all to ofter it's not got a plaque its not a real car , similar to the other myth where are your Tickford Wings , again another addition many years later .

Well done Daz
saved me a load of typing , lol
The cars were NOT rs500"s until driven out of the Tickford factory so listed by them and numbered by them
Nobody after 25 years has ever questioned this until some silly fella wishes to try and gain some providence for his car by trying to change history
Number 1 is build number 1 built as a prototype and painted white ,,end of story
Micheal , your car was the first car to be taken from the assembly line and put into a compound ready to be converted , it wss NOT the first 500 built hence NOT build number 1
