Default Focus mk1 reverse light switch...

How's it wired up? Mine only comes on with the clutch about 1/2 way up. I know my gearbox tripod mount snapped just After I bought the car while I was driving which meant the box hit the floor but actually sat off the floor as the o/s engine mount took the strain and just wondering if it's related. If so could I have damaged any wires or earths etc?

Clutch doesn't have bugger all to do with the reverse switch. Do you mean you have to lift up the clutch a bit to engage reverse?

12v (battery voltage) one side of the switch, then when the switch is engaged it puts 12v on the other side of the switch, putting the reverse light on.

Is your's an iB5 or MTX box?

very top of the box is the 2 pin plug, same plate that the gear linkages are bolted to.

Engaging reserve completes the circuit and then the lights come on - clutch wont affect that.

The reverse switch is at the top of the mtx75 and the front of the ib5 so doubt its damaged or a wires been pulled tbh

When I put the car in reverse or am reversing the car and the clutch is near the floor the light isn't on but if I raise my foot up it reaches a point where the light works. Put my foot down again slightly and light goes off again. It's weird.

I believe it's an iB5 as its a modified 1.8 blacktop from Ford.

You could have a chafed wire or something and when the engine rocks when the clutch engages it's pulling on the wire.

I'll take the battery n that out when I get a chance and take a look see if I can see wiring that's loose or damaged or anything unusual. So there's no earth leads or main loom down there?
