Some one mentioned the other day that you can use a smiley transit diesel turbo tipper/bus clutch on a cossie YB as a cheap upgrade to a standard clutch.

Any truth in this???

sort of,

i used 4 paddles and Di covers, yes

obviousley some are weak as fuck with age but again, you get what you pay for.

i ran one on a T4/greys was fine

only used it as i had a 30,000 sq/ft unit with ford bits in and the new one hadnt been delivered

what about the transit friction plate? is that better than a standard cossie one??

I used one in my race car when it had the 24V engine was in there for 5 years and never had an issue with it, I know of a saph 4x4 on greens using the same one and he had no bother either, can't remember exactly which one is was I just remember it was made by sach

so flywheel bolt patterns must be same i guess??

Sounds like a good way to get a cheap upgrade without spending mega money on a AP racing jobbie or unfriendly paddle clutch.

Tried search on here and not much came up. Surprising "secret" if it works well youd think it would be more documented.

I don't know tbh don't use organic aps. But like I say his went a good legnth of time, was nice to drive and didn't slip at all so yeah. A cheap alternative maybe

I had said pressure plate with 4 paddle clutch plate on olmy 4x4 at approx 390njp was fine!

Rob if you have had "a few" tranny clutchs, obviously they have give bother, otherwise you would only have had one...not "a few" lol

assuming he has fitted them to one road car

he may well have had them in several cars such as mates and/or used them heavily on trackdays or racing which would cut service life.

If it performs better than a standard cossie clutch (about same money) then its a good idea surely??

the suggestions are its better than a uprated organic plate.
