Default Concerned a car im buying my be dodgy?

Ive bought a car off ebay and the seller is supposed to be dropping it off this evening. Hes just rung to say the logbook is missing and im becoming increasingly concerned. Would anyone be able to do me a free HPI check?

Thanks

i wouldnt worry to much, you havnt handed over any cash. How much is the car? Why have you left it till now for a HPI?

no such thing as a free HPI check. The most you can check for free is if its taxed and mot'd.

if in doubt, pay the £3 - £5 .

is it worth loosing your money for a fiver?

Having said all that no logbook isn't the end of the world, i've bought cars from auction with no docs or keys. just takes time and effort to sort it. However, private sale is different.

if i was you id ring him up and tell him not to bother delivering the car, no doubt he will be pissed but then he should have the logbook, in my experience with sellers like this there is always something dodgey/wrong with the car, plus now its dark you wont even be able to check the car over....

If I had a reservation about a car I wouldn't buy it. Simple.

No log book= no sale.... Tell him you will honour the buy IF he orders a new one, they only take a couple of weeks to appear.

I wouldn't let a car I bought from eBay be 'delivered'. That would worry me. I've bought four cars off the 'Bay, and I've made sure I go to their house to collect the car.

Not worth the hassle... I assume it wasn't advertised as 'without a V5' so tell him to do one. If he goes on about it, tell him to take his puss for a shite and open a dispute with eBay stating that you're pulling out because a V5 document was not available for the vehicle.

Cheers,
Grant
