I was going to go and see it months ago but I received a PM which contained the following information:
"...when I asked his dad if it had ever had any paintwork he told me there was a blow in on the bottom of the door where it had been scratched but that was it. He also told me that it was privately owned and had done about 1500 miles when it was brought by cosworth, so ben couldn't even get that bit right.
At first glance the car looked stunning until a closer inspection, there was some paintwork done on the near side and it was flaking on the bodykit and when I looked at the off side I was horrified. The wing had been replaced, new door skin and the rear quarter had been filled and painted which had rusted through from the inner arch. I am no expert but I feel I have enough knowledge on bodywork to know a bit.
It was his wife that was rude to us. I said to her about the damage and she just turned her back on us and said off you go now, be on your way and just walked off. I thought she might have called out to her husband as its his car so I think they knew about the repairs."
I just wondered if anyone had any more details on this car as the owners son is still adament it has never had any boywork done.
Now the RSOC BB post is probably going to turn into an argument, I personally believe the person who PM'd me, but I thought I would try to seek clarification.

Its nice to see people blowing the whistle on these idiots who waste peoples time by trying to sell cars that are not what they claim to be. The country has become a very small place with the use of the internet etc every one should use the BB to help each other out. This is what appears to be happening aswell.
Big thumbs up

Probably why it's been put on ebay with a lowish reserve.................highest bidder takes away.
Truely excellent escort cosworths do not need to be sold on ebay imo.

Dont see why the guy who went to look at it would benifit from lying
That Ben guy strikes me as being a bit up his own Ass aswell, sounds like he is full of shit... why would the fact that his Dad is 50+ and an MD mean the car hadn't been thrashed, and if the car was owned by Cosworth then would there not be some history attached to it?

If hes struggling to sell it at Ł14,000. Getting it on ebay with a bid of Ł13,500 is a sneaky way of getting rid of it. As we all know it is basically a legally binding contract.
So the auction winner turns up to find its not what he was expecting (as many viewers have) filer, paint etc they could have them over a barrel if they try to walk away.
Very naughty. I just hope the bidders will view it first.
Its a lot of money to pay for something thats not quite right.
Be safe

Send a message to the current highest bidder I did something similar to prevent someone buying something that was advertised using a picture of my car

We're all looking forward to it bigpower, I know you'll tell it how it is and that you know exactly what you're looking at.
I've got feeling it's going to be a car that has visited the bodyshop a few times!

Originally at a trader for Ł16795, then it turned up here for Ł25995 and has since dropped to Ł20995!
Not bad for a car that's seen paint everywhere except the roof!

This car was for sale at JCT 28 in June, the new owner has since sold it back to them.
Pete RS Specialists (Who trades just down the road from JCT 28) said this car was MINT.
There are a couple of things that put me off of it though:
It hasn't got FSH. For Ł17000 I'd expect FSH.
It hasn't got genuine Recaro Leather seats (Well spotted the youth!)
It's had 6 owners.
And I think for all of the above and the fact it's now over 50 K it's a bit pricey!

Another good looking car here:
http://zednet.co.uk/keitharnoldcars/listings/674.html
But again too much money for the mileage.
If it was Ł12000-Ł13000 I consider it, but Ł16000 for a 70K plus miler? I just think it's too much money!

Does seem a bit odd to me that an imperial blue escort cant sell within 10 months, sounds a little suspect!

Hardly a purchase for home, are they!
One tip .. Anyone taking a look at the car .. When you meet the guy ... Briefly check out his hands ... If he is a genuine, affluent sort .. with a posh house and a snooty mother ... they will look like your dentists!
If they are manked up with paint .. Isopon .. dirt .. then you'll know a bit more
