Rs turbo wont start on its own have to hold throttle, ideas?

Default Rs turbo wont start on its own have to hold throttle, ideas?

My escort rs turbo wont start on its own I have to give it some throttle then its fine and will idle and rev up ok, of the key it just keeps fireing but wont go,

Its a zvh on mfi just been rebuilt, goin in for a set up in a wk but wanted try sort this problem out first

Any ideas please

the MFI unit is really sensitive and they dont respond well to tweaks from inexperience hands (not being offensive), as long as your tuner has a good grasp of k-jet he should be able to sort when you have it setup.

Ok, I will leave it alone, the place its goin to has worked on fords for a long time so should be ok, hopefully it should be goin there on my mates recovery truck so thats even better

Mikeanics in congleton, he did my cosworth and was happy, iv noticed a few people on here have used him with rs turbos, so should be ok

Sorry forgot about this,my last Sapphire went there the last time it was on the rollers just before I bought it but I think it was only power run not set up.If you want to go a bit more local try Tweedy.He not s bad with RS turbos.

check basics like cam and ignition timing, especially with ZVH`s as belt length can diferentiate so much, had this with a few customers cars

Goin av a little look around it today, although im not a mechanic so might have to leave it for when it gets set up

Check for any vacuum leaks round the inlet, hoses gaskets etc. Easiest way us with easy start sprayed everywhere with the engine running. If the revs rise you have a leak.

I had the same problem with my rst turns out the distributor was knakerd got a new 1 from burton power put the new 1 in and it started 1st time hope this helps .

Sprayed wd 40 everywer and revs dont alter at all,

When you say distributor do you just mean the cap?

WD40 can work but id try easy start aswell for what it costs

it was the dizy not the cap i think it cost Ł125 from burton power.

Check the fuse that's for heated seats, it puts power to the fuelling set up on RS Turbos

Worth mentioning that it's recommended to use quarter to half throttle while starting on mfi. Gets the flap going, unless you fit a super fast starter motor.
