anti rust paint
#2
Depends how rusty they are and if rust coming from inside or outside, plenty of stuff on www.rust.co.uk but you need to treat any rust before painting, then a good anti rust primer and a topcoat of choice, if covered up an anti stone chip paint would probably be ok, but don't think anything will just paint over rust and stop it in its tracks as I have tried most over the years and have yet to find one that does what it says on the tin.

I have never found normal hammerite any good really, best I have found is a good wire brushing followed by jenolite rust treatment, fully washed off after treatment then a coat of zinc primer, followed by stone chip then overprinted with car colour, I did a mk2 mini about 25 years ago and it's still fine underneath, but you really need to seal both sides, or spray wash treatment inside as well. Think the epoxy mastic is good as well. But main thing is to treat it and seal it from the elements, rust need moisture and if it can't get to the base metal it should be ok.

A product called Por 15 is excellent ( google it ) and sold on e bay and Frosts. Think it was originally used for painting underside of boats. i think you can even paint it on to rust. When i asked same question loads of people recomended it.Best bet is to buy a few small tins as once you have opened it if you put lid back on you prob wont get it back off later coz it sets like concrete
