Evo owners, im thinking about buying a Evo shortly and was just wanting your opinion on them, If i do get one it will be a V1. Just like the way they look. i know these vary in price from around the 5k mark right up to about 14k/15k range. Would you stretch your budget to get a newer one like say a Evo 8 FQ or go with the one you like. Ive looked into running costs and recall work etc and to be honest if it bothered me i wouldnt be looking. The car will be used at weekends etc the odd occasional trip to work. Failing The Evo what other car for some where about 8k. Ive already done the e46 M3, Escos, Just looking for a change.

I entered my 4x4 cos into a sprint race a couple of years ago and was very surprised with the times, i.e, mid-range of the class. I'm sure a better driver could of shaved a couple of seconds off but i knew it's limits without spending money on brakes, suspension, wheels, adjustable rear beam etc etc.
So, through some arm twisting from some friends, i bought an Evo6 with an RS short ratio box, time trial spec cams, and decent suspension set-up. Wow, what a difference. I couldn't believe the difference in handling, braking (standard brembo's) and acceleration (RS box). It was so much faster! You could easily pick up a similar Evo for 5-6k as you say.
Now, i'm Ford through and through but the Evo suited me for the sprint racing. I would have another one tommorow (as long as theres always a cossie next to it in the garage!)
Good luck finding your new car.
IMO can't go far wrong with a mitsi.
Cheers, Chris

tbh ive driven an 8 and its a nice car but just feels like the car is doing all the work, plus ihate the front end of the 8 with a big smily face the 7 is a lot better looking
but for driving its the 5 or 6 as it feels like your actually driving the car
and i wouldnt spend the extra getting a tme i dont seethe point its only a few little differences compared to a std gsr
if you get a 6 get one with fogs and not one with covers as they look like a pair of small tits

Going to look at a immaculate EVO 6 tomorrow, 22k miles, silver, slight tune to 320bhp. It's got the original OZ's on aswell which I like, they so suit the car.

Well ive bought one and i pick it up on friday. its a VI, 23k miles, stage 1 tuned, after market exhaust, apart from that all original including the super T's wheels.
Little rant though, i had 10+ years ncd on my insurance. but becusae i haven't insured a car on the policy(2 1/2 years ago) i have lost all my ncd, they elapse after 2 years not using them (all insurance companies) good job i can use my vans ncd's.
