. Some late spec XR4 Sierras were made with a 2ltr engine rather than, as previously, the big 2.9ltr V6. They were shit.

Actually, supercars like the F40 have a rather bad drag coefficient as they're supposed to create downforce.

Another bit of coverage for Rod :

http://www.fastcar.co.uk/2012/02/10-...ierra-facts/8/

8. Rod Tarry’s crazy Sapphire Cosworth has been recorded at an almost unbelievable 206mph and packs an over 900+bhp, making it the fastest and most powerful road-legal Sierra in the world. A record it’s held for a long time!

Surely it should say "MAD" not "Crazy" though

Ive also wanted to know about the Sierra RS500. With it having 8 injectors could/did they all run off the standard ecu and is the ecu which is the same as the Fiat F40.

The F40 had 2 ECUs - one for each cylinder bank

As said they run 2 ECU's, each managing one bank of cylinders, the same as the Maserati (430) Bi-turbo etc.

With the RS500 I seem to remember something about Bosch being involved? So maybe a different ECU, or something in addition added to the standard ECU? Remember as well the road cars were different from the race cars, as in road trim they were never connected!

If they did, it was only mapped for 4 from the factory, so wouldnt have run very well, lol

Don't think so tbh, they were not technically wired in either as the plug terminates by the battery.

I have always wondered myself in the past, as I say I am sure I read Bosch was involved somewhere, as I am sure the standard ECU is physically incapable of running 8 injectors, unless you do a hard/soft modification, it's also quite involved as I understand the extra 4 injectors only come into operation when needed.

wired the other 4 injectors in to what exactly? an injector needs a power transistor to send the current to it to open it on time and there aren't another 4 in the ecu. so where you think you're going to plug them i don't know
