turbo removal on zafira gsi, PROBLEM SOLVED WITH OUT CHANGING TURBO
hi people, i know its not a ford but id rather ask on here as ive done many searches and found out no info at all on crappy vauxhall sites.
my family wagon an 2002 silver zafira gsi needs a new turbo.im going to buy a second hand unit as i realy dont have the 500quid it will cost just to buy a brand new vxr unit and thats without fitting.
does anyone know how difficult it is to change it myself? i dont really like messing with modern cars, ive lost count of turbo changes and engine changes ive done on escorts over the years so im not too incompetent with spanners etc.
just wondering if anyone has done a turbo change on one of these or similar.i can get someone to fit it for 100quid, i know 100quid isnt alot of money to some people but it is to me and every penny helps so id rather save money where i can.
any info people mite have on changing one would be very appreciated.

if you have gas in your a/c in your system you will need it drained first as you have too undo the pipes from the a/c pump or the turbo get's stuck if they aint out the way. you can leave the pre-cat attached too the turbo manifold aswell and lift it out the top makes life easier aswell removing the oil breather steel pipe 2x 13mm on the block, then you can lift the turbo out up over
hope this helps

problem solved, i fitted an oil resistor mod, aparently these cars flow way too much oil in to the turbo which causes the oil to get past the turbo seals.bought one for 20quid, took 10 mins to fit it.car is perfect now, happy days. so glad i didnt fork out 600quid on a new turbo

yeah well happy mate, alot of people have been buying brand new turbos and then sending them back as faulty.so someone tested the oil pressure and found it was way too high for the turbo seals to cope.lots of gsi and vxr owners have done this mod now.
