Default What rear end set up on a mk4 rwd conversion ?

Hi guys,
as per title which rear end set up would you go for on a Mk4 escort rwd conversion to get the best adjustablity without having to spend thousands ? As i'm looking into doing a rwd on my mk4 project, i'm not to worried about it not being ford but something that is farley upgradeable if need be at a later date.
cheers

What sort of power are you anticipating and what sort of usage ? And what diff ratio you after ?

Subaru STI 2001+ rear end ( from a 6speed car ) is available in either 3.54 UK, or 3.9 Jap ratios and is reasonably self contained.. Maybe not as easy as the Nissan unit though. Subarus arent overly wide either. But the brakes on that model are quite big, but the 6spd have the bigger stronger R-180 diff ( very similar to the Nissan )

BMW? Cosworth is done to death, maybe supra if you are going for big power, whatever floats your boat really.
