Default FAO ADMIN STU ETC

Can you please give the ability to delete our own topics????Like the RSBB had.

I cant understand why mods/admin are the only ones that can do it If a thread turns out bad for the poster them surely its his/her/it's right to be able to delete it rather they pm'ing a mod who will think about it...who more often just lock it

BTW i dont mean this in the way you will take it Stu Just a valid suggestion.

Phil

We have to keep a record of all posts even when they are deleted, so we move them to a room that we can get hold of them again if need be.

I have always moved/deleted a post if the topic starter has asked me, as like you said it is there right

Id have thought that a post "belongs" to everyone who posts in it, not just the starter.

The starter sometimes might no longer be interested in it, but someone else still might be.

Then Chip why would the author want to delete it???

Tiff why do they need to be recorded? ...Or is it more of a good thing for you in power to make sure you got the power over everyone when they say something they shouldnt and regret doin it?

I feel the author should beable to decide if he/she wants the topic to remain.

Phil

Legal reasons, if something gets as far as court proceeding for instance, there is a record of it. If it is just deleted off the server, then its 100% gone.

I knew you was going to put about getting quotes

Yes Phil you could to be perfectly honest, but i know that you wouldnt call me a cock sucking NMSer and therefore i wouldnt have to sue you

But to answer your question, Yes you could edit it mate.

Thats why we try to lock, move stuff before it gets out of hand

As said, if a topic starter asks me to remove a post i ALWAYS do so.
There is no "Think about it"

I prefer people dont have the ability to blatently post things and then remove all evidence of them having ever done so. If your worried, dont start it is my advice.

Stu...i beleived this board was about freedom of speech...not a place to gather ammunition against your enemies from things that may have been said in the heat of the moment....i am sure you cant see my point of view as i am powerless.

It's a MSN'er with issues

I assume the infamous "Microcat" scenario is still kept safely tucked away, just in case someone needs it
